I thought this would be a very appropriate first blog entry....so here goes...

There are many different definitions of marketing. Here are a few:

“The all-embracing function that links the business with customer needs and wants in order to get the right product to the right place at the right time”

“The achievement of corporate goals through meeting and exceeding customer needs better than the competition”

“The management process that identifies, anticipates and supplies customer requirements efficiently and profitably”

“Marketing may be defined as a set of human activities directed at facilitating and consummating exchanges”

So which on is right?  Well, they all are!!  In short:

• Marketing is fulfilling the needs and wants of your customer;
• Marketing is business-wide – not just a seperate part of business activities;
• Marketing is about attempting to understanding customers and establishing products and services that customer demand.

What is included in marketing?

• Leaflets and Flyers
• Advertising
• PR
• Websites
• Packaging
• Distribution
• Just about anything else that promotes the business and its activities...
